PG – Propylene Glycol.

It is a thin, odourless and flavourless liquid. In e-liquid it acts as your flavour carrier. Since it is quite thin it melds well with the flavour concentrate.

The higher your PG concentrate, the more potent and complex your flavour will become. Bear in mind that it also acts as a nicotine carrier. The higher the PG content, the more of a throat hit you will experience as well. Now, since PG is so thin it also reduces the vapour production as it requires less heat and power to evaporate.

The higher the PG content, the less vapour will be produced. If you are someone that prefers flavour and throat hit over cloud production, then going for an e-liquid with a higher PG percentage is the way to go.

VG – Vegetable Glycerine.

It is a lot thicker than PG. It helps with cloud production. The reason it is able to create such thick clouds is simply because it is thicker. It requires more power to vaporise. This is why you will find that you get much thicker clouds when you vape an e-liquid with a higher VG percentage.

If you are a cloud chaser that prefers a smoother inhale, then going for an e-liquid with a higher VG percentage is the way to go.

Most e-liquids have a ratio of 70% VG and 30% PG. Just because the VG percentage is higher than the PG percentage does not mean that you will experience little to no flavour. You will still get the rich flavour that you desire with ample cloud production.

Some companies go as high as a 90% VG percentage. For e-liquids such as these, you will find quite a drastic decline in flavour, due to the low volume of the flavour carrier (PG), but your clouds will be wonderfully thick and fluffy.

The ideal ratio for good cloud production and good flavour would be 70% VG and 30% PG.
